As more and more of our processes go online and become digital, it is easy to think that the common printer will soon be a thing of the past.

It’s easier to read from paper than writing on a screen

A great deal of people prefer to read from paper than from a computer screen. In a work environment, it’s also easier to take a pen to paper and mark any changes you may need to make to a document.  While all this can be done on a screen some find the job easier using paper.

Reading from a computer screen can take its toll on your eyes and make you feel tired, whilst reading from paper reduces this tension in our eyes as there is no blue light coming from paper.  It also allows us to spot errors more easily than reading from a screen.

Digital and print work in unison

There’s no reason why digital and print documents can’t work side-by-side. You might use your digital software to create a document, like a contract, but printing it and getting it signed can seal the deal faster. Your printer can also act as a scanner, so once you’ve printed and signed your document, you can scan it and send it on via email.

Asking someone in person to ‘follow you’ on social media sure isn’t as effective as handing them a business card. The humble printer certainly still has its uses when it comes to networking.
