Inkjet printers: an artist’s dream

Inkjet printers: an artist’s dream

Laser printers are becoming increasingly popular, especially since they can achieve extremely high print speeds when printing in black and white. What’s more, many of them come with multi-function features like inbuilt scanners and photocopying. However, inkjet printers are still the first choice of most people working in the creative industries. Inkjet printers offer premium image quality – their technology allows them to produce vibrant colours and they can be used to print on both glossy and matte paper grades. Read on to learn about three of the top benefits of using an inkjet printer.

Low upfront costs

Inkjet printers are generally cheaper than laser printers.  Basic inkjet printers, like the Canon Pixma MG2560 Colour Inkjet printer, can be purchased for as little as little as $45, while more expensive models such as the multi-function Brother MFC-J6930DW Colour Inkjet printer or the Canon Pixma Pro 10S Colour Inkjet printer, cost between $300 and $1000.

Ink cartridges are also significantly cheaper than the toner cartridges for by laser printers, however they usually need to be replaced more frequently.

Higher quality images

Because inkjet printers use ink cartridges, they are able to produce higher quality, more vibrant images. There are many inkjet models designed specifically for printing photographs and graphic illustrations, such as the Canon Pixma Pro200 Colour Inkjet printer.

Some inkjet printers can hold 10 or more cartridges, giving them a wider colour range than laser printers. Additionally, inkjet printers produce bleed, which gives images a smoother gradient transition.

Experiment with paper grades and sizes

Because of how a laser printer works they cannot print on glossy coated inkjet paper, as toner needs to fuse to the paper.  Inkjet printers are able to print on many different paper grades, and some models, such as the Epson XP970 Colour Inkjet printer, can even print onto CDs, DVDs and fabrics. Some inkjet printers are also able to print on pages up to A3+, which is perfect for those wanting to print large posters or photographs.

If you want to print stunning, high quality images, an inkjet printer is a great investment. At TonerInk, we stock a range of high quality inkjet printers, as well as ink cartridges and printing accessories.
