You Need A Wireless Printer

Posted on 02/12/2015

Every year new technology promises to makes our lives a little easier with an influx of new products and gadgets leaving us spoilt for choice.

When it comes to printers, there are a wide variety options available including wireless, USB and traditional networked printers.  Wireless printers are the most popular now and reduce the amount of cords used.

To help you decide whether a wireless printer is right for you, let’s take a look at their top five benefits:

1. Wireless is self-managing

Wireless printers can make printing faster, as print jobs can be managed directly from the printer without the need for computer administration. Depending on your settings, your computer may not even need to be turned on. Connecting wireless printers is now easier as well.

Connection is relatively easy to install.  Most home modems have a WPS key.  By simply pressing this, WPS enabled printers can connect almost immediately.

2. Wireless is tidy

Previous to wireless connectable printers, if you needed to connect multiple devices to your printer, there was a mass of tangled wires or the inconvenience of plugging in each device every time you go to print.  Neither of these situations were ideal and fortunately a thing of the past.  Wireless printers have eliminated most messy wires (except the power) and ultimately make your work space less cluttered.

3. Convenience

One great advantage of wireless printers is remote accessibility, meaning you don’t have to be next to the printer in order to print a file. Wireless printers enable you to work from anywhere in the home or office, and can be accessed by multiple users. Wireless printers also allow you to print from multiple devices including mobiles and tablets. Wireless Direct allows you to directly access the printer, without connecting to a network. The printer acts as a wireless modem and allows single users access through a password.

Cloud printing is also a latest innovation through networks and wireless printer.
Downloading an app to a smartphone or tablet allows access to printers through a network or direct, depending upon the printer.  most manufacturers have developed their own apps to allow direct print.

4. The silver lining

The best wireless printers will also allow you to print directly from the Cloud (i.e. online data storage). While traditional printers require you to download web pages onto your device before printing them, Cloud enabled wireless printers allow you to print directly from a webpage, saving you precious hard drive space. The most advanced wireless printers will even allow you to print from the internet remotely.  More and more apps are being developed by manufacturers and developers allowing access to printers. Some older networked printers can now be accessed through certain apps.

NFC (Near Field Communication) where you simply tap a smartphone or tablet on a printer and it prints is one of the newer types of communication with printers, much like we have now become accustomed to with credit cards.

5. Cost

Wireless printers now cost no more than other printers. Wireless, Wireless Direct and Near Field Communication, EPrint, Air Print, Cloud Print are becoming standard issue. Installation is cheaper and easier than ever before and there is no need to connect wires.
